On most Las Vegas hotel sites, you do not. MGM Resorts properties have no field for it at all, and the others use the code to pre-select a rate rather than to apply a discount at checkout. Where the proof gets checked varies. At MGM Resorts properties you book first and show the card at the front desk. Caesars and Station Casinos ask military and first responders to verify through ID.me before the rate becomes bookable at all, so budget a few minutes for that the first time. Either way, turn up without the card, the ID or the licence and the hotel can reprice your stay at the standard rate.

Advance purchase rates are usually the cheapest on this page, and most of them ask for 21 to 60 days' notice and full prepayment. They are also non-refundable, so they suit fixed plans and punish flexible ones. Beyond that, midweek beats weekends almost everywhere in Las Vegas, and any week with a major convention in town will cost you more whatever rate you book.
