The Ultimate 4-D Experience is a small 3D movie theater in the Fun Dungeon, the arcade on Excalibur’s lower level. Each show lasts about 15 minutes, and the draw is what happens around the screen: the seats move, and the room adds wind, water and scent in time with the action. The ticket is an all-day pass, so a film fits easily between rounds in the arcade.
What to expect
Three animated films are playing: Angry Birds: The 4D Experience, Chaos in Wonderland 4D and The Amazing Maurice 4D Adventure. Shows run in 15-minute periods through the day. Once the lights go down, the effects come from your seat and from the room itself, so a crash or a splash on screen turns into a jolt, a gust of air or a light spray.
Good to know
Open daily from 10 AM, until 10 PM Monday to Thursday and 11 PM Friday to Sunday; the last admission is at 10 PM.
Two packages, sold only at the theater, add the arcade: both cover all three films, an arcade game card, 200 prize tickets and 20% off at Dairy Queen. One adds a ride on the Max Flight coaster and air-combat simulator, the other a surprise plush toy.
Water is one of the effects, so expect a light spritz, and the seats move: anyone who dislikes motion rides may prefer to skip it.
The Fun Dungeon around it has more than 200 arcade, sports, carnival and kiddie games.
