What we know so far
The new resort
Hard Rock International is rebuilding The Mirage, in the middle of the Strip between Caesars Palace and Treasure Island, as Hard Rock Las Vegas. The volcano is gone; in its place rises a 42-story hotel tower shaped like a guitar, and the original Mirage tower is being gutted and redone. Opening is planned for late 2027.
The Guitar Hotel
A 42-story tower shaped like a guitar, standing where the volcano erupted in front of The Mirage. Its last structural beam went up on May 1, 2026, and by late summer its blue-tinted glass covered most of the exterior.
Rooms
About 3,700 rooms and suites in all: several hundred in the guitar tower, the rest in The Mirage's original Y-shaped tower, which is being completely redone inside (blue glass replaces its old gold windows).
Casino, pools and meetings
Close to 175,000 square feet of casino, two spas, several pools and more than 200,000 square feet of meeting space, according to Hard Rock.
Shows and restaurants
Hard Rock plans live music venues and dozens of restaurants, lounges and shops. Names and acts haven't been announced; we'll add them here as they are.

Is Hard Rock Las Vegas the old Mirage?
Yes, same site. Hard Rock International bought The Mirage's operations from MGM Resorts in December 2022, closed it on July 17, 2024, and is rebuilding it: the volcano was torn down for the guitar-shaped tower and the original tower is being completely redone.
Is the old Hard Rock Hotel on Paradise Road still open?
Not as a Hard Rock. The original Hard Rock Hotel (1995–2020), off the Strip on Paradise Road, closed on February 3, 2020 and reopened on March 25, 2021 as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
