How discounts on Las Vegas show tickets actually work

Almost every show in Las Vegas sells at more than one price. The same seat can cost one amount on the box office page, another through a reseller, and another again on a Tuesday in August. What we do here is track the discounted rate for each show and put them side by side, with the price for every seating category rather than a single teaser figure.

There is no code to copy on this page, and that is deliberate. Our booking links already carry the discount: you click through, and the reduced rate is applied when the price is calculated. Some venues do work from a promotional code internally, but you never see it, and on several booking engines there is no field to type one into. Publishing a code that cannot be entered would waste your time, so we send you straight to the discounted price instead.

Why the same show has four or five prices

Seating category is the main reason. A theatre is divided into zones, and the gap between the back and the front is often double. The cheapest category is not always a bad seat, particularly in the smaller showrooms where the back row is thirty feet from the stage, but in the large Cirque theatres the difference is real and worth paying for if the show is built around what you see. Where a venue publishes a seating chart, it is worth looking at before you choose.

Taxes and fees

Nevada charges a Live Entertainment Tax on admission to shows, up to 9%, and sellers don't all apply it to the same amount. Some also quote a base price and add their service fee at checkout. To keep the shows above comparable, every price includes the seller's mandatory fees and is shown before tax: + tax means the tax is added at checkout, and each show page gives the total with it. incl. taxes & fees means the figure is what you pay.

Where else to look

We would rather tell you than pretend we are the only option. If you are already in town and flexible about what you see, the half-price ticket booths along the Strip sell same-day seats for shows that have not filled, and you will sometimes beat any online rate. If you hold a players card with one of the casino groups, check your offers before booking anywhere: discounted and comped show tickets are a common perk. And if you are a Nevada resident, several venues run local rates that are never advertised online.

Where none of that applies, or you simply want to lock something in before you travel, the prices above are the discounted rates we can find today.

Las Vegas show tickets: common questions

How much do Las Vegas show tickets cost?

On this page the cheapest seats start around $19 and the most expensive run past $250. Most shows sit between $40 and $90 for their entry-level category. Comedy clubs and tribute shows are at the low end, the large Cirque du Soleil productions and headline residencies at the high end.

Do I need a promo code?

No. The discount is already built into the booking links on this page, so the reduced price appears when you click through. Several booking engines have no field for a code at all, which is why we do not publish one.

What is the Nevada Live Entertainment Tax?

It is a state tax on admission to live entertainment, charged at 9% on show tickets. Some sellers include it in the advertised price, others add it at checkout. Each show above states which applies, so you can compare like with like.

Can I get cheaper tickets on the day?

Sometimes. The half-price booths on the Strip sell same-day seats for shows that still have inventory, and if you are flexible about what you see you can do well. The trade-off is that you cannot choose in advance, popular shows rarely appear, and you have to queue in person. Booking ahead costs a little more and removes the guesswork.

Are there discounts for Nevada residents?

Yes, at several venues, though they are rarely advertised online. If you have a Nevada ID it is worth asking at the box office or checking the venue’s own site for a locals rate. The same goes for military, senior and student rates at some theatres.

What is the difference between the seating categories?

Each category is a zone of the theatre, priced by how close and how central it is. In the smaller showrooms the difference between the cheapest and the dearest seat is modest. In the large purpose-built theatres it matters more, particularly for shows built around staging and acrobatics. Where the venue publishes a seating chart, look at it before you choose.

Which shows are suitable for children?

Shows marked Adults only above have an age restriction, usually 18 and over. Everything else is open to a general audience, but that is not the same as being aimed at children: age policies vary by venue and some theatres set a minimum age of five regardless of content. Check the show page before booking for a young family.

Can I get a refund if my plans change?

Show tickets in Las Vegas are usually non-refundable once booked. Some venues will move you to another date if you ask well in advance, and policies differ between the box office and third-party sellers. Read the conditions on the booking page before you pay, particularly if your dates are not settled.
