The Wizard of Oz at Sphere is the 1939 film rebuilt for the giant screen inside Sphere, next to The Venetian Resort. It has played there since August 28, 2025, several times a day, with the picture wrapping over and around you across 160,000 square feet. It runs about 75 minutes and, according to Sphere, is intended for ages 6 and up.
What to expect
This is the movie, in a shorter cut, not a stage show. The original was shot for a nearly square screen, so Sphere worked with Warner Bros. and Google, whose AI sharpened the image and extended the scenery beyond the old frame. The score was re-recorded by more than 80 musicians on the stage where it was first recorded in 1939, around the cast’s original voices.
Then the room joins in. Seats rumble, wind and debris sweep through the crowd during the tornado, and apples fall from above, with the scent to match. Since September 25, 2026, the show adds animatronic Winged Monkeys, “Glinda Glitter,” more scents and fireworks.
Good to know
Everyone needs a ticket, whatever their age. Doors open 45 minutes before showtime, and there’s no late seating.
Expect flashing lights, loud sound, fog and objects flying through the room. Accessibility Services can seat you in a non-haptic seat; there are two sensory rooms.
Large bags and backpacks aren’t allowed; small purses and fanny packs (about 6 by 6 by 2 inches) are. No outside food or drink. Photos are fine in the Atrium, not during the film.
Where to sit
The picture climbs over your head, so height and the center matter more than being close. The center of the 300 level, sections 305 to 307, is the pick; the center of the 400 level costs less but is steep. Select seats in 206 and 306 go with VIP packages. Our Wizard of Oz at Sphere seating chart goes level by level.
