BattleBots Destruct-A-Thon is the live version of the TV robot-combat series, in its own arena just behind Horseshoe Las Vegas, at the center of the Strip, produced by Caesars Entertainment Studios. BattleBots calls it the world’s first daily robot-combat show, and it plays only in Las Vegas: remote-controlled robots built to wreck each other fight it out in a closed arena, one bout after another.
What to expect
Bil Dwyer, the original host of the Comedy Central BattleBots series, runs the show. Robots from the TV series, such as Bronco, Witch Doctor, Kraken, Mammoth, HyperShock and Whiplash, fight alongside bots built for the Las Vegas show, and at some performances rookie teams fight to qualify for the next BattleBots World Championship. Expect sparks, flying parts and a loud crowd for about 75 to 80 minutes.
Where to sit
Ticketmaster sells the arena by section. From the cheapest: Section D, Section A, Sections B and C (their front rows cost more) and the Platinum Club. BattleBots names its seats Obstructed View (the big screen helps), Side View, Center View, VIP and Platinum Club, and the seat map on Ticketmaster shows where each section sits. Center View is the one to pick for most people: you face the arena, and every seat is assigned. VIP adds center seats, early entry and discounts on merchandise and snacks. Platinum Club adds table service, free snacks and a backstage tour after the show to see the bots up close.
Good to know
All ages: children under 2 get in free on a lap. It’s loud, so ear protection helps young children.
Some shows are filmed, and everyone in the audience must agree to be filmed.
Two extras are sold at the arena: a backstage tour to see the bots and meet the builders, and a Co-Pilot Pass to join a team on stage and fire the arena’s weapons. Platinum Club tickets include the backstage tour.
Paid parking is available on site.
