Comedy Cellar is the Las Vegas outpost of the Greenwich Village stand-up club, on the first level of the Rio since 2018. Instead of one headliner, every show puts five headline-level comics on stage for 15 to 20 minutes each, in a 300-seat replica of the original room. You must be 18 to get in.
What to expect
This is the showcase format the New York club made its name with: five strong sets back to back, rather than the usual host, middle act and headliner. If one comic isn’t your taste, the next is never far away. The Rio’s show page posts the five comics booked for each week, several weeks ahead, and the club’s website has its line-ups too. A name can change without notice, the club warns, but it adds that well-known comics often drop in unannounced. The low ceiling, brick wall and stained glass are modeled on the Greenwich Village room, and the club serves cocktails and shareable bites every night.
Good to know
Ages 18 and up, strictly enforced, the club says. Bring a physical government-issued photo ID: it’s checked at the door.
Orders are capped at 20 tickets. Groups of 20 or more book through the Rio’s group sales.
The Rio is on West Flamingo Road, off the Strip, and the club is on the resort’s first level.
Where to sit
Every seat is at a table, and it’s all general admission, in zones sold at three prices: VIP GA Seating, the tables nearest the stage; Preferred GA Seating, the ring around them; and General Admission at the back. A fourth zone along one side, GA 2 Table Seating, wasn’t on sale when we checked. Nothing is numbered, and seating isn’t guaranteed once the show starts, so get there before. For accessible seating, buy General Admission and the club will accommodate you at the venue.
