Vegas! The Show is producer David Saxe’s revue of the city’s entertainment history, told with showgirls, Broadway-style singers, dancers and a live big band. It opened in June 2010 at the Saxe Theater, in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, and it still plays there. It runs 75 minutes and is open to all ages.
What to expect
The curtain rises on the Neon Boneyard, where the city’s retired signs rest, and Ernie, its caretaker, walks you back through the decades of Vegas showrooms. From there the story moves through the eras in song and dance, with tributes to the Rat Pack, Elvis, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Tom Jones and Tina Turner. The subject runs in Saxe’s family: his mother was a showgirl in the Folies Bergère, and his father played saxophone for the Rat Pack.
Good to know
All ages are welcome; children 2 and under who sit on a parent’s lap get in free, according to the theater.
Older listings may still say 7 PM: the show now starts at 5:30 PM, and MJ Live, a Michael Jackson tribute, plays the same room at 7.
The theater is in Suite 454 of the Miracle Mile Shops, with tiered stadium seating.
Groups of 10 or more book through the theater’s box office.
Where to sit
Every row of the Saxe Theater curves around the stage: rows A to K on the main floor, then a walkway and a block of rows M to X at the back, off to one side. VIP Center, the middle of rows A to K, faces the stage head-on; VIP Side, either side of it, is just as close for less, and our value pick. Our Vegas! The Show seating chart maps every category.
