Absinthe is Spiegelworld’s adults-only mix of circus, burlesque and raunchy comedy, and it has played Caesars Palace since April 2011. Its home is the Spiegeltent, an air-conditioned tent on the Roman Plaza where about 600 seats circle a small round stage, so nobody sits far from the action. It runs 80 minutes with no intermission, strictly for ages 18 and over.
What to expect
Your host is the Gazillionaire, a foul-mouthed ringmaster whose crowd work and insults hold the night together. Between his rants come the acts, which change over time: recent line-ups have featured performers swaying on tall poles above the crowd, a strength duo, tap-dancing twins and a hula-hoop routine. The jokes are crude by design, the sound is as loud as a concert, and there are strobes and haze.
Good to know
Strictly 18 and over, no exceptions: bring photo ID. Dress is casual.
Doors open 15 to 20 minutes before showtime, through the Green Fairy Garden and its Pier 17 Yacht Club bar. The restrooms are outside the tent, so go first.
Two VIP options, both 21 and over: the Impresario’s Reserve, a raised table with a bottle of Champagne or spirits, and the Gazillac VIP Experience, with a ride in a Cadillac Escalade IQ, a No Pants Burger at Pier 17 and an open bar during the show. Groups of 21 or more book through Caesars group sales.
Where to sit
Four numbered sections wrap around the stage, and with the stage in the round every seat sees some routines from behind. For the view, sit close in section 2 or 3; for value, around row D of section 1, behind the first three rows the cast likes to pick on. Our Absinthe seating chart goes through it section by section.
