Most people book The Wizard of Oz at Sphere the way they would book a concert: as close to the front as the budget allows. Here that instinct works against you. This is not a stage show: the image wraps up, over and around you across 160,000 square feet of screen, and from too low or too close you cannot take it all in. What you want is height, and the middle.
Sphere stands behind The Venetian Resort, and for The Wizard of Oz its seat map uses three levels: 200, 300 and 400. Where to sit, in one line: the center of the 300 level (sections 305, 306 and 307), or the center of the 400 level if you want the cheapest complete view.
Best seats for The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
The best seats are in the center of the 300 level: section 306, with 305 and 307 on either side, sit on the screen's main axis at the height the film was made for.
From there the picture fills your field of vision without turning your head, and the dome above you stays whole. Regulars say the difference between 306 and its two neighbors is hard to notice, so if 306 is gone on your date, take 305 or 307 without a second thought.
One thing to check in 306: select seats there are now sold only with the VIP packages (more below). If your 306 seat comes as a package, 305 or 307 give you almost the same view for much less.
Best value seats
For value, take the center of the 400 level: sections 405, 406 and 407 are usually the cheapest seats in the building, and the height helps with a film that wraps over your head.
The catch is the slope. The 400 level is steep, noticeably steeper than the levels below it. If heights bother you, you will spend the first minutes thinking about the drop rather than about Kansas: in that case, the 300 level is worth the difference.
Seats to avoid
Avoid the far ends of each level (202 and 210, 302 and 310, 403 and 409): they sit well off the screen's main axis, and the image looks bent from there.
You will still have a good time out at the edges, but you are not seeing the picture the way its makers framed it. Two more spots to think twice about: the back rows of the 200 level, which the seat map flags under an overhang (from there, the top of the dome is cut off), and the 400 level if you have vertigo.
Accessible seating
Sphere is fully wheelchair accessible, and wheelchair and companion seats can be bought on Ticketmaster like any other seat, or arranged through its Accessibility Services Department.
Call 725-258-6724 (Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm Pacific, weekends and holidays 10 am to 6 pm, and on event days from an hour before the first show until the last one starts), ideally at least 48 hours ahead. Seat-view guides place the accessible seating at the top of sections 304, 306 and 308. Sphere also has sensory rooms on levels 2 and 6, and assistive listening devices at Guest Services on the same levels.
Section by section
200 level (202 to 210)
The lowest level sold for The Wizard of Oz. The center sections, 205 and 207, are good seats, but the angle is low for an image that climbs over your head. Section 206, in the middle, is held for the VIP packages.
300 level (302 to 310)
The sweet spot for this show. 305, 306 and 307 are the center; 304 and 308 are still close to the axis. From 303 and 309 outward, the angle grows.
400 level (403 to 409)
The highest and steepest level. 405, 406 and 407 give the full wraparound view for the lowest price; the end sections, 403 and 409, are the furthest off-axis seats in the building.
VIP packages: 206 and 306
The Good Witch and Bad Witch packages come with select seats in sections 206 and 306, plus a VIP entrance and extras (the Bad Witch package adds a pre-show lounge with themed food and drinks). The top package, The 1939, includes haptic seats in select center suites and access to the Arc Bar. You pay for the perks, not for a better view than the sections beside them.
Which seats vibrate?
About 10,000 of Sphere's 17,600 seats are haptic: they rumble and move with the film, and during the tornado you feel it in your back. Sphere does not publish which seats they are. If you would rather have a seat that stays still, ask Accessibility Services for a non-haptic seat.
Good to know before you go
- The film runs about 75 minutes. Doors open 45 minutes before the time on your ticket, and late seating is not allowed.
- It is intended for ages 6 and up, and everyone needs a ticket, whatever their age.
- Since September 25, 2026 the show has more 4D effects: wind, fog and scents as before, plus animatronic winged monkeys, scented apples, fireworks and falling "glitter". Sphere warns of objects falling and flying through the room.
- No outside food or drink, not even sealed bottles.
- Sphere is a short walk from The Venetian, with a pedestrian bridge between the two. Driving? The Venetian garage is the closest.
Other shows at Sphere
Between film showings, Sphere hosts concert residencies: the Eagles and Metallica this fall and winter, and the Backstreet Boys at the turn of the year.
