How Many Hotel Rooms Are In Las Vegas? (2025 Edition, Plus Trends For The Future)
Have you ever wondered how many hotel rooms there are in Las Vegas?
How does the city cope when events such as F1, NFL, and WWE come to town, or even festivals like March Madness, or holidays like Memorial Day and Christmas?
Well, look no further. We analyzed the most recent statistics from resources such as the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the hotels themselves.
Before we look at the numbers in further detail, here’s a quick look at our findings:
- 150,622 hotel rooms going into 2025.
- 86,462 hotel rooms on the Strip.
- Las Vegas is the city with the most number of hotel rooms in the USA.
Now, let’s look at the numbers in more detail.
Total Number of Hotel Rooms in Las Vegas
Coming into 2025, there are a total of 150,512 hotel rooms available in the Las Vegas area.
This is a 1.60% decrease compared to the average number of hotel rooms available in 2024.
The decrease is mainly due to the Tropicana Hotel and Mirage closure in July. If you’re wondering what’s replacing the Tropicana, then that will be a 33,000-seater new Las Vegas Stadium with a fixed roof. The stadium is planned to be the new home of an MLB team after their relocation from Oakland is complete.
Despite the reduction compared to 2024, Las Vegas still has the most hotel rooms in the USA.
To give you some context, New York City has 120,000 hotel rooms spread across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Stat3n Island, meaning New York would need to increase its hotel capacity by 25% to match the hotel room inventory of Las Vegas.
Total Number of Hotel Rooms in Las Vegas Over Time
Compared to 2005, Las Vegas has 15% greater hotel room capacity, and compared to 2015, there is a 0.68% increase.

There is natural variation between the years due to renovations, hotels closing, and new hotels opening.
The decrease from 2019 to 2020 was due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the increase in 2021 was due to the gradual return to normality. You can learn more about the recovery of Las Vegas in our post about Las Vegas statistics.

What Is The Largest Hotel on The Strip?
There are two ways to look at this question.
Some people like to look at The Venetian and The Palazzo as two separate properties. However, they both fall under the Venetian Las Vegas Resort umbrella.
When we take this into account, the Venetian Resort is home to 7,095 rooms, making it the largest hotel in Las Vegas and the second-largest hotel in the world.
The Future Of Las Vegas – Projects To Keep An Eye On
2025 won’t see Las Vegas significantly impact overall hotel inventory.
However, there are some projects to look out for. These include:
- Otonomus is opening next month (March 2025) near Allegiant Stadium. Otonomus will feature apartment-like suites with kitchens and dining spaces, focusing on sustainability and AI technology.
- Dream Las Vegas will add 531 rooms. It’s designed to offer a boutique-style experience and is due to open in late 2025.
- A dual-branded hotel (AC by Marriott and Element by Westin) is set to open in Symphony Park in late 2025. Once opened, it will be home to over 400 hotel rooms.
Beyond 2025, there are plenty of projects to look out for. A new hotel tower at M Resort was set to open in 2025. However, this has been pushed back to 2026.
As you already know, Mirage closed in 2024, and its replacement is going to be a guitar-shaped hotel named Hard Rock.
Las Vegas Is a Global Destination
One thing is clear, Las Vegas is a global tourism destination. That’s the reason the city remains the hotel capital of the U.S.
People come to visit Sin City from across North America and all over the world. 2025 is a year that sees more redevelopment rather than expansion. However, going later into the decade, we’ll see the skyline further transform with Hard Rock’s overhaul of Mirage and a new stadium for the city’s newest sports team.
