Want to see the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, or walk along the Strip? Go for it.
On Big Bus Tours’ day route, buses stop at nine spots on the Strip and Downtown every 30 to 60 minutes, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (as of November 2026). An audio guide blends facts with fun, giving you a better understanding of the city and its history.
A hop-on-hop-off bus gives you the freedom to plan your tour and what you’ll do afterward.
I’d recommend it as one of the first things to do in Las Vegas during the day.
The Strat Observation Deck
Of course, a street view isn’t the only way to see the city. Rise above it all at the Strat Observation deck.
It stands over 1,149 feet tall, the tallest freestanding observation tower in America, and offers a panoramic view of the city.
But that’s not all.
The Strat is also a resort with a casino and full-service bar. The outside deck boasts some of the scariest thrill rides around, like the death-defying Sky Jump.
Adrenaline junkies only for this one.
The High Roller
London’s got nothing on this Ferris wheel. The High Roller at the LINQ stands 550 feet tall and measures 520 feet in diameter.
When it comes to things to do in Las Vegas during the day, you can’t beat it.
For thirty minutes, you and your family will relax in a spherical cabin as it ascends up, up, and up into the Las Vegas skyline.
When you finish with the Ferris wheel, stay for the shopping.
The LINQ itself boasts an incredible array of stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues–like the magnificent Brooklyn Bowl.
See the top of the city, find a great souvenir, eat good food, and enjoy a round of bowling; what could be better than that?
The Mob Museum
It’s not called Sin City for nothing. Explore Vegas’s colorful past with a trip to the Mob Museum downtown.
Go on a journey of booze and gambling; of lawmen and wise guys; of shadows and secrets.
From the top floor’s story of how the mob was born and how the Feds fought back, to the first floor’s crime lab and firearm training simulator, you’ll get the story of Vegas from both sides of the law.
In the basement, The Underground speakeasy and distillery serves Prohibition-style cocktails, so you can end your visit like one of the family.
The Neon Museum
Of course, if you want to see a real colorful past, check out the Neon Museum.
“But wait?” you ask. “How can lights be one of the things to do in Las Vegas during the day?”
Good question. While it’s true some of the signs light up for evening visits, the daytime visit is just as fun. As of November 2026, daytime admission runs from 3 to 5 p.m., and you can add a 45-minute guided History Tour.
You get to see a Las Vegas history written in the signs of the past. A guided tour of the neon boneyard will give you an idea of what used to dot the Strip way back when.
Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay
Love animals? Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay holds more than 2,000 animals from over 100 species, from crocodiles and a Komodo dragon to sharks, giant rays and sea turtles.
The highlight is the shipwreck exhibit: 1.3 million gallons of water around a sunken ship, with a see-through tunnel that puts the sharks over your head.
You walk through at your own pace, and the aquarium opens daily at 10 a.m.
It’s an easy pick for families, and a cool break from the afternoon heat.
The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
Curious about the giant globe next to The Venetian? Sphere screens The Wizard of Oz at Sphere two to four times a day, and tickets are on sale through May 31, 2027 (as of November 2026). Saturdays have morning and early-afternoon showings, but some weekdays have nothing before 5 p.m., so check the calendar if you want a daytime seat.
It’s one of the most fun things to do in Las Vegas during the day.
The 1939 film is rebuilt for a 16K screen that wraps around and over you, with sound from 167,000 speaker drivers and effects you feel in your seat.
When the tornado hits, expect wind, fog and a shaking seat.
The show runs about 75 minutes and is recommended for ages 6 and up.
Doors open 45 minutes early, so come in time for photos in the Atrium.
Hoover Dam
You don’t have to stay on the Strip to find things to do in Las Vegas during the day.
Sin City is also a short drive from some of the best sights anywhere, starting with the Hoover Dam.
Built during the Depression, the Hoover Dam is a monument to human will and ingenuity.
The concrete structure stands 726 feet tall and is as thick as two football fields measured end-to-end.
During peak electricity times, enough water runs through the generators to fill 15 swimming pools (20,000 gallons each) every second.
I could go on and on; the list of facts is endless, but to truly experience this breathtaking landmark, you need to go there yourself.

Vegas is like Disney World for grownups: there’s plenty of thrills, plenty to do, and you’ll meet plenty of colorful characters.
With everything to do at night, you can have just as much fun during the day.
