If you play Wordle, you’ll feel right at home: Vegas Word is the same game with a Las Vegas twist. Every day at midnight, Las Vegas time, a new five-letter word goes live, and every answer has something to do with Vegas, from casino games and slang to resorts and spots on the Strip. You get six tries to find it.
How to play Vegas Word
- Type any five-letter word and press Enter, on your own keyboard or the one under the grid.
- The tiles change color to show how close you are:
- Pink: the letter is in the word, in the right spot.
- Gold: the letter is in the word, in another spot.
- Dark: the letter is not in the word.
- Use those clues for your next guess. You have six tries.
- Once you find the word, or run out of tries, you’ll learn a little about it, often with a link to our page on it.
The colors follow Wordle’s rules when a letter shows up twice: if your guess has two E’s and the answer only one, only one of your E’s lights up.
Today’s word, practice words and your streak
Everyone gets the same word on the same day, and the next one comes out at midnight in Las Vegas (Pacific time). Your stats and your winning streak are kept in your browser, on this device. When you’re done, Share your grid copies your colored squares, so friends can see how you did without seeing the word.
Can’t wait until tomorrow? Play as many practice words as you like. They come from the same list of Vegas words and don’t count in your stats.
Tips for guessing Vegas words
- Open with a word full of common letters, like STARE, CRANE or SLATE.
- Think Vegas: casino games and casino slang, resort names, things you’d do on a trip and places around town.
- Move your gold letters to a new spot on your next guess, and don’t reuse dark ones.
