The massive dam was constructed during the Great Depression (President Franklin D. Roosevelt attended the dedication ceremony for Hoover Dam in 1835) and plays a pivotal role in providing water and electricity to the region, making it an essential landmark in the area’s history and development.

Fun fact: As the Hoover Dam is built on the border of Nevada and Arizona, you will enter a different time zone as you walk or drive on the bridge (Pacific Standard Time on the Nevada side and Mountain Standard Time on the Arizona side).

The visitor experience at Hoover Dam offers a fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of this monumental structure. Here are some of the highlights and attractions awaiting you:

  • Guided tours inside the dam: Embark on a guided tour that takes you deep inside the dam, where you can witness the intricate machinery and learn about the engineering feats that made Hoover Dam a reality. Expert guides provide insights into the construction process, the dam’s significance, and the ongoing maintenance efforts.

  • Visitor center with exhibits on construction and history: Explore the visitor center, where exhibits delve into the construction and history of Hoover Dam. Learn about the challenges faced by the workers during its construction in the 1930s and gain a deeper understanding of the dam’s impact on the region. Engaging displays and multimedia presentations bring the story of Hoover Dam to life.

When planning your visit to Hoover Dam, here is some important information to keep in mind:

  • Tour options, ticket prices, and restrictions: Several tour options are available, ranging from comprehensive guided tours of the dam’s interior to shorter tours that focus on the visitor center and the surrounding grounds. Ticket prices and availability may vary, so it’s recommended to check the official Hoover Dam website or contact the visitor center for the most up-to-date information. Note that certain restrictions may apply, such as age restrictions or limitations on large bags or backpacks.
  • Driving from Las Vegas: Hoover Dam is approximately 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas. To reach the dam, take US-93 South from Las Vegas towards Boulder City. The drive offers breathtaking desert views and glimpses of Lake Mead along the way. Follow the signs for Hoover Dam and continue until you reach the entrance. If you don’t have a car, there are several bus tours offered from Vegas to Hoover Dam. You can choose a 2-hour tour or stay half the day if you are interested in touring the dam

A visit to Hoover Dam offers an unforgettable experience that combines education and awe-inspiring vistas. Don’t miss the chance to explore this iconic landmark and delve into its remarkable story.

Death Valley National Park

Located about two hours west of Las Vegas in the Mojave Desert, Death Valley National Park is the lowest, driest and hottest spot in North America (The exact lower point is Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level). The highest reported temperature in the world (134 degrees Fahrenheit) was recorded at Furnace Creek on July 10, 1913.

Over 1000 plant species live in Death Valley including 50 endemic species of plants found nowhere else in the world. Visiting Death Valley is a photographer’s dream. In addition to the plants and wildflowers on the valley floor, rifts of sand dunes, rugged canyons, sand flats, snowy mountaintops, and colorful badlands provide diverse colorful scenes.

Within the vast expanse of Death Valley National Park, there are several must-see attractions and activities that showcase the park’s diverse offerings. Here are some highlights:

  • Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America: Journey to Badwater Basin and stand at the lowest point in North America, approximately 282 feet below sea level. The vast salt flats stretch as far as the eye can see, creating a surreal and otherworldly landscape.
  • Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes for photography opportunities: Discover the mesmerizing Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, where windswept sands create ever-changing patterns. As the sunlight dances upon the dunes, capturing their textures and contours, photography enthusiasts will find themselves immersed in a visual feast.
  • Artist’s Drive and Zabriskie Point for colorful rock formations: Embark on a scenic drive along Artist’s Drive, a route that weaves through stunning geological formations, including the vibrant and multi-hued Artist’s Palette. For panoramic views of the park’s unique rock formations, don’t miss Zabriskie Point (Especially at sunrise and sunset).

When planning your visit to Death Valley National Park, it’s important to keep these essential tips in mind:

  • Carry extra water and stay hydrated: Death Valley’s extreme temperatures make proper hydration essential. Carry an ample supply of water with you at all times!
  • Protect against sun exposure: Shield yourself from the intense desert sun by wearing sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, breathable clothing that covers your skin. Consider seeking shade during the peak heat of the day.
  • Avoid peak summer months: Due to scorching temperatures that can exceed 120°F, it’s advisable to visit Death Valley National Park during the cooler months of fall, winter, and spring when temperatures drop below 100°F. If you must visit during summer, plan your outdoor activities for early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are relatively cooler. The desert heat in the summer at such low elevations can be brutal!
  • Camping in Death Valley: Although the park is open year-round and provides nine campgrounds, the extreme heat keeps most of the low-elevation campgrounds closed during the hottest months of May to September. Furnace Creek Campground stays open as well as campgrounds in the mountainous areas (Mesquite Spring, Emigrant, or Wildrose). Furnace Creek offers camp stores, car services and gas, and places to eat. Those services can also be found at Stovepipe Wells Village and Panamint Springs.

Immerse yourself in the unforgettable landscapes of Death Valley National Park, where extreme beauty and natural wonders converge. From the lowest point in North America to captivating sand dunes and vibrant rock formations, the park offers a myriad of experiences for nature lovers. Remember to come prepared, stay hydrated, and protect yourself from the desert sun as you explore the remarkable wonders of Death Valley.

Day Trips From Las Vegas: Exploring Natural Wonders Beyond the Strip

Over the past six decades, the Las Vegas Strip has grown from a few casinos in the middle of the desert to the iconic stretch of glitz and glamour it’s known as today.

And it continues to grow.

In fact, news broke in the Nevada Independent this week that the vintage Tropicana Las Vegas may be demolished to make way for a $1.5 billion baseball stadium with a retractable roof for the Oakland A’s.
In the meantime, several projects–from shopping, dining, and entertainment centers to resorts–are underway to transform the famous skyline again.

Here Are Some Of The Newest Developments On The Las Vegas Strip

Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Finally!

Talk about building up anticipation. Fontainebleau Las Vegas has been an on-again-off-again project since 2006. Now, it’s finally set to make its global debut in December 2023.

Located at the north end of the Strip, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center expansion, Fontainebleau Las Vegas is a luxury 67-story hotel, gaming, entertainment, and meeting destination with 3,644 luxury hotel rooms, 550,000 square feet of convention space, and a world-class collection of restaurants and shops, pool experiences, vibrant nightlife options, and spa and wellness offerings.

Fontainebleau Hotel Casino Las Vegas

“Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ unique vertical design gives us great creative flexibility when it comes to our retail space,” says Fontainebleau Development President Brett Mufson in a press release. “We’re incorporating other elements of the Fontainebleau brand into our space, making for a seamless guest experience and generating unprecedented exposure and foot traffic for our retail partners.”

The property was originally occupied by the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino in 1948, later renamed the Silverbird, then El Rancho, before closing in 1992.

Hard Rock Means Hard Knocks for Mirage Volcano

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas–not to be confused with the Hard Rock Hotel which formerly stood on Harmon Avenue, off the Strip, and is now Virgin Las Vegas–will soon replace the Mirage Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

It will also dramatically transform the Las Vegas skyline with the addition of a Guitar-shaped hotel tower, adjacent to Las Vegas Blvd.

Hard Rock Las Vegas Guitar-Shaped Hotel

Hard Rock International (HRI) assumed operational control of the property as of December 19 when all 3,500 team members at The Mirage were welcomed to the 45,000 global Hard Rock family.

“We are excited to create an integrated resort on The Strip that will make this legendary entertainment community proud,” said Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International, in a press release.

The 3,044-room casino resort will continue to operate as The Mirage Hotel & Casino until the renovation and rebranding of the property to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is complete. It will continue to offer dining and entertainment, including Cirque Du Soleil’s The Beatles LOVE through 2023.

There are no plans to close The Mirage or to lay off any of the team members.

Hard Rock expects to release details of the rebranded and reimagined resort, its new features and attractions, and its development timeline at the end of 2023.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat closed in late 2022, and the remaining dolphins were relocated. In the meantime, you may want to visit the resort’s free Strip-front volcano attraction before it erupts for the last time.

Strip Malls Transform Into Retail Experiences

The Cable Center Shops are no more. The rundown strip mall, on Las Vegas Boulevard (across from Aria), was knocked down in March to make room for a new flagship retail, entertainment, and dining experience–in other words, another spot where tourists can spend lots of money.

The mall was once home to Utopia nightclub in the 1990s (where this writer has many fond and fuzzy memories) and more recently housed a Fatburger and other budget-friendly food options.

New York-based Gindi acquired the Cable Center Shops and eateries in 2019 for $172 million. The company also owns the neighboring Hawaiian Marketplace, which is shuttered and soon to be knocked down.

Across the way, a four-story shopping mall, called 63 Las Vegas, is opening within MGM Resorts International’s CityCenter complex and is currently accepting leasing applications. The two-acre site at the southwestern corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue was once home to the defunct The Harmon but structural defects prevented that CityCenter hotel and eyesore from ever opening.

63 Las Vegas Shopping Center Rendering

Construction on 63 Las Vegas started in 2021. Stores are expected to start opening by the end of 2023.

Another ground-up development is planned for a roughly 6-acre property north of the Hawaiian Marketplace, at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. Owned by Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta, it is expected to become a 43-story, 2,420-room hotel-casino.

Hotel Tower Headed to Paris

Almost 10 years after the world-famous topless showgirl extravaganza, Jubilee, closed in 2015, its eponymous hotel tower at the former Bally’s Hotel (now Horseshoe) is packing up and moving to Paris. Sort of.

The Jubilee Tower at the new Horseshoe Las Vegas will be renovated and transformed into the new Versailles Tower and will reopen at Paris Las Vegas this fall (thanks to a handy pedestrian bridge).
Featuring a new exterior and a new interior, the renovation will introduce 756 redesigned luxury guestrooms in late 2023 and the bridge, connecting the Versailles Tower to the existing Paris resort in early 2024.

Paris Las Vegas Versailles Tower Rendering

“The addition of the Versailles Tower makes Paris one of the largest resorts in the heart of The Strip,” said Sean McBurney, Regional President of Caesars Entertainment in a press release. “The interior and exterior will be completely reimagined and transformed into some of the best rooms in Las Vegas. When it opens this fall, our guests will have easy access to the incredible restaurants and gaming options they have grown to love at Paris Las Vegas.”

The Versailles Tower will feature some of the largest standard rooms on The Strip, starting at 436 square feet. In addition, select guestrooms will offer new 55-square-foot balconies with unmatched views of The Strip as part of the renovation.

The Best Spas In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city that never sleeps, and with so many exciting attractions, shows, and casinos to explore, transportation is a crucial factor in making the most of your trip. While renting a car might seem like the most convenient option, there are actually many other ways to get around Las Vegas without a car.

By using public transportation, taxis, ridesharing services, walking, biking, or shuttle services, you can easily navigate the city and enjoy all it has to offer. This guide will take you through the various transportation options available in Las Vegas and provide tips for using each one effectively.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned local, knowing how to get around Las Vegas without a car is essential for a stress-free and enjoyable trip. So, let’s dive into the different transportation options and discover how you can easily explore all that Las Vegas has to offer.

Public Transportation in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has a comprehensive public transportation system operated by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC). The RTC’s buses run throughout the city and offer a convenient way to get around, especially for those on a budget. The most popular bus for tourists is the Deuce which offers the most economical way to get around the Vegas hotspots.

1. The Deuce

With its red, double-decker facade, you can’t miss the ubiquitous Deuce buses traveling on Las Vegas Boulevard. This 24-hour bus runs from the South Strip Transfer Center north to the Fremont Street Experience and provides a great view of the city’s iconic landmarks. The Deuce stops at most major Strip hotels. Just be sure to pay attention to the route schedule and know if you’re getting on a southbound or northbound.

To use the public transportation system, you can purchase a transit pass or pay with exact change on board the bus. You can also download the RideRTC app, which provides real-time bus tracking, schedules, and fare information.

2. The Deuce Prices

At the time of this writing, the Deuce pass fares are:

  • 2-Hour Pass: $8
  • 24-Hour Pass: $8
  • 3-Day Pass: $20

Note that buses can get crowded during peak hours, so plan accordingly and allow extra time for your trip. Also, be aware of your surroundings and keep your valuables secure while using public transportation.

Using public transportation in Las Vegas is an affordable and convenient way to get around the city. Whether you’re exploring the Las Vegas Strip or venturing off to other areas, the RTC has you covered!

Taxis and Ridesharing in Las Vegas

Taxis and ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft are available in Las Vegas and offer a convenient way to get around, especially if you’re traveling with a group or need to get to your destination quickly.

1. Taxis

For quick and simple transportation, nothing beats a Las Vegas cab ride. Virtually every resort hotel in the city has a taxi stand operating 24 hours. This designated area is the only place taxi drivers can pick up or drop off on the Strip. If you’re hoping to get dropped off somewhere right on Las Vegas Boulevard, forget it. These stands were created to reduce congestion on the already-busy Strip. However, you can pretty much get dropped off anywhere you want if you’re headed to other spots in the Valley.

Taxi stands, which are located at a hotel’s main entrance near the valet, usually have short waits. However, lines can build up on evenings and weekends. Don’t worry, they move fast. If you feel like being social, you can even share a cab with some fellow travelers. This is a great way to reduce Las Vegas taxi fare, which starts at $3.50 just to get in the car. From there, the price is $.23 every 1/12 mile ($2.76 a mile). Expect surcharges for a ride to or from the airport ($2 per passenger) and a $3 fee if you use a debit or credit card to pay.

Taxi Fare From Harry Reid Airport

If you need to catch a taxi from Harry Reid International Airport to your hotel, rest easy knowing that you can’t be long-hauled anymore. Las Vegas taxis are now operating on a flat rate zone-based pricing system, which means that the fare you pay depends on which zone your destination hotel falls within. Here are the 3 zones:

  • Zone 1 – $19: Alexis Park, Delano, Desert Rose Resort, Excalibur, Virgin Las Vegas, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, OYO, and Tropicana.
  • Zone 2 – $23: Aria, Horseshoe, Bellagio, Elara, Marriot Grand Chateau, New York-New York, Paris, Park MGM, Planet Hollywood, Polo Towers, The Cosmopolitan, The Orleans, The Signature at MGM Grand, Travelodge by Wyndham and Vdara.
  • Zone 3 – $27: Artisan, Caesars Palace, Circus Circus, Embassy Suites by Hilton Convention Center, Encore, Flamingo, Gold Coast, Harrah’s, Hilton Grand Vacations, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Marriott, Palace Station, Palms, Resorts World, Rio All-Suites, Sahara, The STRAT, The LINQ, The Mirage, The Palazzo, The Venetian, The Westin, Treasure Island, Trump International, Westgate, and Wynn.

By dividing the city into three zones, the flat fare system makes it easy for visitors to budget for transportation costs and avoid unexpected expenses. So the next time you’re heading to Las Vegas, be sure to check which zone your hotel falls within so you can plan your travel budget accordingly.

2. Ridesharing

Ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft are also popular options in Las Vegas. You can use their apps to request a ride and get an estimate of the fare before you confirm your trip. With a ridesharing service, you can also track your driver’s location and estimated time of arrival in real-time.

If you’re planning to use a ridesharing service in Las Vegas, it’s worth noting that pickup and drop-off locations may be different from taxis and other vehicles. Many hotels have designated areas for ridesharing pickups and drop-offs (Check out our guide of all Las Vegas Strip rideshare locations for pickups).

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to travel the Strip. This transit system stretches 4 miles along the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard from the MGM Grand North to the SLS Las Vegas at Sahara Avenue. The train, which reaches speeds of up to 50 mph, makes seven stops, including one at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Not surprisingly, it is quite popular when major trade shows are in town.

One of the benefits of using the monorail is avoiding traffic congestion on the Las Vegas Strip. The monorail is also a fun way to see the Strip from above and offers great views of the surrounding area.

It’s worth noting that the monorail may not be the most cost-effective option if you’re only traveling a short distance, as ticket prices can add up quickly. However, if you plan on using the monorail frequently during your trip, it’s worth considering a multi-day pass, which offers unlimited rides for a set period.

Las Vegas Monorail prices start at $5.50 for a single ride. An unlimited 24-hour pass is $13.45. You can also save more by opting for the two, three, four, five, six, and even seven-day passes.

The Vegas Loop by The Boring Company

A new transportation option in Las Vegas is the Vegas Loop.

The Vegas Loop is a system of underground tunnels (developed by The Boring Company, owned by Elon Musk) that uses Tesla electric vehicles to transport passengers between different locations in Las Vegas. The project is developed to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a more efficient way for people to move around the city.

The Vegas Loop currently has 4 stops at the Las Vegas Convention Center (West, Riviera, Central & East) and 1 stop at Resorts World.

If you’re attending a convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center, you can enjoy complimentary rides within the campus. If you’re staying at Resorts World and need to travel to the Convention Center, you can purchase a day pass for just $4.50. Click here to buy your tickets.

The Loop is a game-changer for anyone who needs to get around campus quickly. Gone are the days of a 45-minute trek – now you can ride from one end to the other in just a couple of minutes. The Boring Company has plans to expand to 69 stations across Las Vegas, with the City of Las Vegas and Clark County having already approved expansion plans.

Walking and Biking

1. Getting Around Las Vegas on Foot

Walking is a great way to explore Las Vegas, especially if you’re staying on or near the Las Vegas Strip. Many of the city’s popular attractions, including casinos, restaurants, and shopping centers, are located within walking distance of each other.

The Las Vegas Strip is also pedestrian-friendly, with well-maintained sidewalks and crosswalks and many pedestrian bridges that make it easy and safe to cross this always-busy boulevard. However, keep in mind that Las Vegas is a desert city, and temperatures can soar during the summer months. If you’re planning on walking during the day, be sure to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks in the shade when possible.

4. Tips for Walking and Biking in Las Vegas

Whether you’re walking or biking in Las Vegas, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and follow basic safety precautions. Avoid walking or biking alone at night away from tourist areas, stay on designated paths or sidewalks, and obey all traffic signals and signs.

If you’re biking, be sure to use proper hand signals when turning, wear a helmet, and use bike lights or reflectors when riding at night.

Walking and biking are great options for exploring Las Vegas and enjoying the city’s unique sights and sounds.

Vegas Transportation From Airport – Shuttle Services

Choosing What’s Best for You

Las Vegas offers a variety of transportation options to suit different needs and budgets. From public transportation to taxis, ridesharing, and the monorail, there’s a mode of transportation for everyone. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to consider your destination, budget, and travel plans before deciding which one to use. Discover some of the latest developments on the Las Vegas Strip now!

Tips for Choosing the Best Las Vegas Transportation Option Based on Your Needs and Destination

When deciding which transportation option to use in Las Vegas, there are a few factors to consider. First, think about your destination and how far it is from your starting point. Next, consider your budget and how much you’re willing to spend on transportation. Finally, think about how quickly you need to get to your destination and how much time you have to spare.

Here are some tips to help you choose the best transportation option based on your needs and destination:

  • Use public transportation if you’re on a budget and have time to spare,
  • Use taxis or ridesharing services if you need to get to your destination quickly or if you’re traveling with a group,
  • Consider purchasing a multi-day pass if you plan on using the monorail frequently during your trip.

Importance of Planning Your Transportation Ahead of Time to Ensure a Smooth Trip

Planning your transportation ahead of time is crucial for a smooth and stress-free trip to Las Vegas. It’s important to research your transportation options and decide which one is best for your needs before you arrive. This will save you time and money and help you avoid any unexpected delays or confusion.

Here are some tips for planning your transportation ahead of time:

  • Research the transportation options available in Las Vegas and their schedules,
  • Consider purchasing tickets or passes in advance to avoid long lines or sold-out tickets,
  • Check with your hotel for any recommendations for transportation and ask them if they provide free shuttles,
  • Plan your route and allow extra time for unexpected delays or traffic congestion.

By following these tips and planning your transportation ahead of time, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip to Las Vegas. And if you’re really light on cash, remember that most of Las Vegas Boulevard is very walkable. Just be aware that the areas just off the Strip and Fremont Street can get sketchy at night.

Learn How You Can Save Money in Las Vegas: Tips for Budget-Friendly Travel here.

Getting Around Las Vegas Without a Car

Las Vegas is known for its bright lights, entertainment, and luxurious experiences, but it’s also known for being an expensive destination. However, with a little planning and research, you can save a considerable amount of money on your Las Vegas vacation. In this article, we’ll go through some tips and tricks to help you save as much money as possible during your Las Vegas trip.

How To Save Money In Vegas – Plan Ahead

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned Vegas veteran, planning ahead is crucial to saving money on your Las Vegas vacation. In this section, we’ll cover three important areas where planning ahead can help you maximize your budget: choosing the right time to travel, booking your hotel and flight in advance, and signing up for loyalty programs. By following these tips, you can ensure that you get the best deals and make the most of your Vegas adventure without overspending.

1. Choose the Right Time to Travel

Choosing the right time to travel to Las Vegas can help you save a considerable amount of money on your trip. The time of year you travel, the day of the week you arrive, and the presence of conventions or special events (sports or concerts) can all impact prices for hotels, flights, and entertainment.

One of the best ways to save money on your Las Vegas vacation is to travel during the offseason. During peak season, which is typically from March to May and September to November, prices for hotels, flights, and even entertainment tend to be higher. Traveling during the offseason, which is typically from December to February and June to August, can help you save money on your trip.

But there’s a twist: even during the offseason, visiting Vegas while there is a big convention happening, such as CES (Consumer Electronics Show in early January) or SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association in early November) is always a bad idea as prices for hotels and flights are significantly higher during these weeks. If you’re not attending the convention or event, it’s best to avoid traveling to Las Vegas during these times. You can check the Convention Calendar here.

Las Vegas is also a popular destination for sports and entertainment events, such as UFC fights, boxing matches, and major concerts. These events can attract large crowds and cause prices for hotels to skyrocket. In recent years, Las Vegas has also become home to several professional sports teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders (NFL) and the Vegas Golden Knights (NHL). These teams have brought in even more visitors to the city so it is better not to visit Vegas during game days if you want to save money on your accommodation!

Lastly, consider traveling during weekdays instead of weekends. Most people tend to travel to Las Vegas on weekends, so prices for hotels can often be multiplied by 5 when it’s a busy weekend! Traveling during weekdays can help you avoid the crowds and save money on your trip.

2. Book Your Hotel and Flight in Advance

Booking your hotel in advance is a great way to save money on your Las Vegas vacation. It’s recommended to book your hotel at least 2 months before your trip to avoid last-minute prices. Many Las Vegas hotels offer early bird discounts for those who book in advance.

When booking your Las Vegas hotel, compare prices from different booking sites to get the best deal. You can also call the hotel directly to inquire about any special rates or promotions. Don’t forget to factor in resort fees and taxes when comparing prices.

But don’t forget about your flight! Booking your flight in advance is also important for saving money. Dynamic pricing in the flight industry means that prices can change rapidly based on demand and availability. By booking your flight in advance, you can lock in a lower price and avoid paying more for a last-minute ticket.

At Lasvegasjaunt we are always on the lookout for the best hotel deals. Take a look at our Las Vegas Hotel Deals page to take advantage of the best discounts available!

3. Sign Up for Loyalty Programs

Signing up for loyalty programs from hotels and airlines can help you save money and earn rewards. Many hotels and airlines offer discounts and special promotions to their loyal customers. Some loyalty programs also offer perks such as free upgrades, free breakfast, and late checkout.

When signing up for loyalty programs, make sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information. You may also want to sign up for email newsletters to receive exclusive deals and promotions. Don’t forget to check if your credit card offers any travel rewards or benefits that you can use during your Las Vegas trip.

Save Money on Food and Drinks

When it comes to saving money on your Las Vegas vacation, one of the biggest expenses you’ll encounter is food and drinks. However, there are several strategies you can use to keep your dining expenses under control while still enjoying all the delicious offerings that Sin City has to offer. In this section, we’ll explore some of the best ways to save money on food and drinks during your Las Vegas trip.

1. Take Advantage of Happy Hour

Many bars and restaurants in Las Vegas offer happy hour discounts on food and drinks. This is a great way to enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. Happy hour deals typically occur during off-peak hours, so it’s best to check with individual establishments for their specific schedules. Some popular happy hour spots in Las Vegas include:

  • Ocean One Bar & Grille inside Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood: Each Lunch Item for only $5.99 (From Grilled Salmon Salad to a 1/2 Lb Sirloin Burger), 3 for 1 Cocktails & 3.49 Beers.
Ocean One Bar and Grill Las Vegas
  • Herbs & Rye: 50% off Steaks and Selected Food Monday through Saturday from 5-8 PM and from midnight until 3 AM.
  • Margaritaville: $7 domestic draft beers all day.
  • STK Steakhouse inside The Cosmopolitan: $7 food, $11 each (regularly $22 each) specialty cocktails and $10 drinks Monday to Thursday from 4 PM – 6 PM and Friday 3 PM -5 PM.

2. Bring Your Reusable Water Bottle

Las Vegas can get hot, and staying hydrated is essential. Instead of buying bottled water throughout your trip, bring a refillable water bottle with you. Most hotels and casinos have water fountains available for public use. Additionally, some restaurants and bars may offer free water upon request. By bringing your own water bottle, you can save money on buying drinks while also reducing waste.

3. Use Coupons and Deals

There are numerous ways to find coupons and deals on food and drinks in Las Vegas. Many casinos offer coupon books to their guests upon check-in, which may include discounts on meals and drinks. Additionally, websites such as Groupon often have deals for restaurants and bars in the area. It’s also worth checking out individual restaurant and bar websites for any special promotions or discounts they may offer.

Overall, there are many ways to save money on food and drinks in Las Vegas. By taking advantage of happy hour deals, bringing your own water bottle, and using coupons and deals, you can enjoy all that the city has to offer without breaking the bank.

Entertainment

Las Vegas is known for its exciting entertainment scene, offering a wide range of shows, attractions, and tours to suit every taste and budget. However, these experiences can quickly add up and put a strain on your wallet. Luckily, there are ways to save money while still enjoying all that Las Vegas has to offer. In this section, we’ll explore some tips and tricks to help you make the most of your entertainment budget.

1. Look for Free Attractions

Las Vegas offers a lot of free attractions that you can enjoy without spending a dime. For instance, the Bellagio Fountains is a mesmerizing water fountain show that is located in front of the Bellagio Hotel. The Mirage Volcano is another free attraction that you can watch in the evenings. It is a breathtaking display of fire, water, and sound that you shouldn’t miss.

The Fremont Street Experience is also a must-see attraction that features a 1,500-foot-long LED canopy and a plethora of street performers and free concerts every night. 3. Join Player’s Clubs

Casinos in Las Vegas offer players’ clubs that you can join for free. These clubs offer a variety of perks, including discounts on shows, dining, and other entertainment as well as free stays. When you join a player’s club, you’ll receive a card that you can use to earn points while you play your favorite games. These points can then be redeemed for free play, meals, and other rewards.

earn points by joining player's clubs

But that’s not all. You can also earn points by spending money on other things, such as hotel stays, meals, and drinks. So even if you’re not a big gambler, you can still earn points and enjoy the benefits of being a club member. Just don’t forget to always show your card before paying for food in a casino’s restaurant for example.

Most players’ clubs offer tiered membership levels, with higher levels offering even more rewards and perks. So if you plan on spending a lot of time in Las Vegas, joining a player’s club can be a great way to save money on entertainment and other expenses.

Transportation

1. Use Public Transportation

Las Vegas has a good public transportation system that can help you get around the city at a low cost. The Las Vegas Monorail is a popular option for tourists, as it provides a quick and efficient way to travel up and down the Strip. The RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) bus system is also a good option if you need to get to other parts of the city: The DEUCE bus runs 24 hours a day every day and drives along the strip from Mandalay Bay all the way to downtown stopping at most of the hotels (Check out the Deuce route and schedule here). You can purchase a pass that allows you to ride the bus as much as you like during a certain period, such as a day or a week.

2. Consider renting a car only if you plan on leaving the city:

If you’re only staying in Las Vegas, you may not need to rent a car. The city is quite compact, and most attractions are located within walking distance of each other. However, if you plan on leaving the city to explore other parts of Nevada or neighboring states, renting a car may be a good option. Just keep in mind that parking in Las Vegas can be expensive, and you may have to pay to park at your hotel. Here is a comprehensive list of parking fees in Las Vegas hotels that could help you.

3. Look for Hotel Shuttles

Some hotels in Las Vegas (especially off-strip hotels) offer free shuttle service to and from the airport, as well as to other popular destinations such as the Strip and downtown. This can be a convenient and cost-effective way to get around the city, especially if you’re staying at a hotel that’s located off the Strip.

4. Walk

Las Vegas is a very walkable city, and walking is a great way to see the sights while saving money on transportation. Most of the major attractions are located within a few blocks of each other on the Strip, and many hotels have pedestrian walkways that allow you to walk between them without having to cross busy streets. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes, especially if you plan on doing a lot of walking. Learn How to Get Around Las Vegas Without a Car here.

Keep in mind that Las Vegas is a city of excess, but that doesn’t mean you have to overspend to have a good time. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can stretch your budget and still have an unforgettable experience. So go ahead and plan your next trip to Sin City with confidence, knowing that you can have fun without emptying your wallet.

Each officer has been independently certified to instruct civilians in range shooting.  Your time here will begin with a safety briefing including a study on proper stance, positioning, and handling. Range safety rules are strictly enforced here.

Even more reassuring, they have an 82% veteran hiring rate. This means you’ll be overseen by staff with real-life combat experience.

Think about how much war and battlefields are discussed in the news and portrayed in movies and television. Your firsthand experience at Battlefield Vegas will totally change the way you perceive all of that.

3. Family Fun

Bring the kids! This is absolutely a family-friendly activity. Children over ten can participate. Children under 14 will have limited options, but they’ll certainly be able to partake. A parent or legal guardian must accompany anyone under 18.

All this action is contained within their 25-yard indoor firing range and their 200+ acre desert training facility.

Kiddos aside, do you or your husband have weapons in the house that you’re uncomfortable handling? Do you want to make trips to the gun range together but always back out because of your (understandable) fears?

Well, you’ll walk away from this adventure feeling more comfortable in the presence of any weaponry in your home and likely be able to partake in one of his favorite activities in the future.

Battlefield Vegas is open every day, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm Sunday – Thursday and 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Friday – Saturday, making it easy to fit a couple of hours of fun, yet informative, activity into your schedule.

4. Be a Part of History

During your visit, you’ll handle the same weapons our forefathers fired in combat.

Do you especially love WWII memorabilia? How would you like to handle some for yourself? Battlefield Vegas has an extensive inventory, including weaponry used during WWII as well as present-day artillery.

Enjoy touring their fleet of over 25 military vehicles and aircraft, including WWII Jeeps, troop carriers, and Humvees used in conflicts ranging from Vietnam to the present day.

Of course, you’ll start off your adventure with a pickup in an authentic Humvee. After some training with your Range Safety Officer, you’ll have access to a 9mm pistol.

You’ll even receive a t-shirt to commemorate your time!

6. Crush a Car With a Tank!

When’s the next time you’ll be able to drive a M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank? Never! This is the closest any civilian will ever get.

Staff at Battlefield Vegas will even film it for you so you can share this one-of-a-kind experience with your friends and family. Take a closer look at some live-action shots:

You’ll, of course, be briefed on operational procedures for this Main Battle Tank. And two people can join the fun: one to drive the tank and one to stand in the tank-commander hatch.

Don’t forget the MINI-GUN experience this comes with. Also known as the M-134, the MINI-GUN fires over 4,000 rounds per minute!

People walk away from this experience calling it an ultimate adrenaline rush.

This might spark flashbacks to your most recent stint on Grand Theft Auto where SWAT teams shot at you as soon as you got out of your tank. Have no fear. You’re in safe hands here!

7 Reasons You Should Gear Up for Battlefield Vegas

Bellagio Resort & Casino is far from the newest resort on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, but the AAA Five-Diamond property continues to exemplify elegance and luxury, year after year.

From the iconic, dancing fountains on the resort’s 8.5-acre lake to the colorful, 2,000-square-foot Dale Chihuly sculpture, Fiori di Como, hanging above the lobby, beauty and couture await discovery around every corner.

Fiori di Como by Dale Chihuly at Bellagio Lobby
Fiori di Como is Chihuly’s interpretation of Italian flowers in the spring.

Spring at the Bellagio brings room and suite renovations for the Spa Tower, a romantic display in the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden, and a new exhibit in the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect if you make it to Vegas this Spring.

Room & Suite Redesigns

Bellagio is doubling down on luxurious guest experiences with major upgrades to its rooms and suites.

Fresh off a complete redesign for 2,500 guest rooms in the main tower, the resort announced it will spend $110 million to redesign 819 rooms and 104 suites in its Spa Tower, slated for completion in October.

This renovation will be followed by resort-wide guest room enhancements for the Bellagio Tower’s approximately 400 suites in 2024.

For the Italian-inspired Spa Tower transformation, the Bellagio has tapped interior design firms from New York and Chicago to work in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group: Champalimaud Design for the suites and The Gettys Group for the rooms.

Spa Tower Suites

Suites within the Bellagio Spa Tower come in many sizes. There’s Salon Suites (850 square feet), Bellagio Suites (1,000 square feet), Penthouses, and two-bedroom Bellagio Suites (both 1,500 square feet). Plus, don’t forget the 2,500-square-foot Executive Hospitality Suites, which feature billiards lounges and home-theater living areas.

Once redesigned, these suites will feature natural and manmade accents of Northern Italy, including:

  • Tufted cream-colored curved headboards
  • Custom TV armoires in a sycamore wood grain
  • Curvilinear sofas, benches, and chairs
  • Handmade Italian light fixtures
  • Custom vanities with lighted mirrors, white marble surfaces, and motion-sensor lights, in the bathroom

“We wanted to create a residential aesthetic with the timeless sense of luxury that is uniquely Bellagio,” Winston Kong, Partner at Champalimaud Design, said in a press release. “We found inspiration in the colors of Lake Como’s surrounding flora and the classical style of the building’s architecture.”

Rooms

King and Two Queen rooms in the Spa Tower will mirror the Bellagio Tower’s recently redesigned rooms (which are highly sought after by guests, according to the property).

Along with design elements inspired by the waters of Lake Como and the Bellagio Fountains, the rooms will have:

  • Marble floors
  • Custom furnishings
  • Illuminated bathroom mirrors, inlaid with mother of pearl
  • Separate soaking tub and shower

Ann Hoff, President & COO of Bellagio, expects the Spa Tower room and suite transformation to “reinforce our position as one of the hospitality industry’s premier destinations.”

Spring in the Conservatory

Located beyond the front desk, Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens flourishes anew with the seasons—Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Lunar New Year—offering a feast of sights, sounds, and smells in its North, South, and East beds, plus a literal feast at the Garden Table in the West Bed.

For Spring (through May 20), designer Ed Libby and the 80-member Bellagio Horticulture team present a romantic European garden, Giardino Dell’ Amore.

The display pays tribute to love and romance with twin 16-foot-high cherub statues, floral garlands made from 125,000 blooms, rose-covered lanterns, a koi pond, a marble gazebo, and a tunnel of love with four heart-shaped arches, covered with 24,000 roses. Living orange blossom trees bring good luck while a dreamy soundtrack sets the mood. A tiered, 17-foot-tall fountain is surrounded by LED theatrical screens with images of flowing water.

Better yet, with a reservation, you can enjoy an exclusive brunch or dinner at The Garden Table, located amid flowers, trees, and water features at the center of the conservatory.

Brunch comes from Sadelle’s Café and includes Avocado Toast, House-Cured Salmon Tower with Caviar and Bagels, Steak and Eggs, French Toast, and Salmon Benedict. It’s available seven days a week at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. for up to six guests ($125 per person).

Internationally acclaimed Chef Michael Mina’s award-winning eponymous restaurant serves dinner at The Garden Table. This includes Red Norway Crab, Mediterranean Sea Bass, A5 Miyazaki Wagyu, and more, Wednesday through Sunday at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. for up to four guests ($349 per person).

The conservatory itself is free and open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fine Art Gallery “In Bloom”

Spring is also on full display at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art with its newest exhibition, In Bloom. The curated exhibit features 30 works by nationally and internationally recognized artists, on the themes of rejuvenation, humanity, and collective change, through Sept. 10.

Guests are encouraged to “live life in full bloom,” according to the words on a glowing neon sign and figuratively as strolling past the gallery’s brightly painted walls and vibrant works, ranging from still life and landscape paintings to kinetic and large-scale sculptures.

Demecina Beehn, Director of Art & Culture for MGM Resorts describes the unique showcase of artists and works as a celebration of beauty and captivating landscapes, perfect for the Spring.

“In Bloom connects our shared experience of seasonal change and rebirth to artworks that either address ideas of transformation directly, subversively, or abstractly,” said Beehn. “With this exhibition, we ask our audience to consider their perspective around the new growth that comes after a cold winter.”

Artists include Earl Biss, Karla Black, Regina Bogat, Nick Cave, Dan Colen, Salvador Dalí, Lois Dodd, Jiří Georg Dokoupil, Nicolai Fechin, Martine Gutierrez, Shawn Huckins, Alex Katz, Rachel Kneebone, Tamara Kvesitadze, James Lavadour, Robert Mapplethorpe, Ralph Meyers, B.J.O. Nordfeldt, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Miron Schmückle, Yinka Shonibare CBE, David Simpson, Judy Tuwaletstiwa, Ai Weiwei and Terry Winters.

The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Spring Brings Renewal at Bellagio with Redesigned Rooms, Fresh Exhibit

Las Vegas isn’t just Sin City; it’s also the platform for the biggest productions. Among which is this year’s innovation in theatrical entertainment, Awakening.

The state-of-the-art stage and sound technology, coupled with glamorous costumes and puppetry, are only a few things that make the show worthwhile. Read on to learn why Awakening at Wynn should be on your to-do list this year!

Witness a Well-Written Magical Plot Coming to Life

Las Vegas is home to glamorous Las Vegas shows featuring elaborate plots. However, Awakening differs from typical Las Vegas production through its mythical but humane storyline.

The show tells the story of IO and her fellow travelers as they work to restore love and beauty in the world. The performance also shows how the heroine works to reunite the Darkness and Light.

The magnificent plot written by DeConnick is further emphasized with different dance performances. Serene moves strategically to elevate calm scenes. Meanwhile, excitement or anger is best expressed with modern hip-hop.

Suffice it to say, Awakening presents remarkable characters in stunning settings. You’ll want to keep watching IO’s tenancy, Boos’ clever tricks, and the humane gods of light and darkness. Even more, the show is family-friendly, and it’s suitable for audiences as early as five years old.

The “A” Team

Aside from a superb story plot, Awakening at Wynn is a product of three theatrical geniuses. The lucrative production started with Awakening producer and director Halpin.

Baz Halpin is the master behind stadium and arena tours of big stars. This includes Cher, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Usher, and Taylor Swift.

Also, its executive producer Bernie Yurman is responsible for the record-breaking Siegfried & Roy’s 25-year engagement at The Mirage. Yurman epitomizes theatrical brilliance as demonstrated by his musical On Your Feet.

Completing the A team is Emmy Award-winning character creator and designer Micheal Curry. Curry worked with top companies such as Disney, staging large-scale productions worldwide. Some of his most notable works include The Lion King on Broadway.

As a bonus, Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins narrates the spectacle these bona fides created. Harnessing the talent of an outstanding creative team, Awakening promises to be an adventure you’ll love.

A Theater Like No Other

Watching the Awakening is like hitting two birds with one stone.

On one hand, you can witness a spectacular ensemble. On the other hand, you get to visit the heart of a world-class resort and casino, Wynn Las Vegas. More specifically, you’ll enter the realms of a theatrical extravaganza, the 360-degree theater.

Wynn was once the venue for the aquatic show Le Rêve. The venue received a total makeover custom-made for Awakening. The theater now features a 60-foot dichroic glass stage and giant LED screens.

The audience can now enjoy an intimate theatrical play with the new stage design. There is no right or left wing in Wynn. Instead, all seats have an optimal view of the show. This allows the audience to become immersed in the whirlpool realms in Awakening.

If you desire an upgraded evening at Wynne Theater, Awakening offers a VIP package. The package includes champagne and desserts, a personal host, and a souvenir program.

Meanwhile, an Elite-level package includes a premium menu, a dedicated server and program, and a VIP Circle seat. You’ll also receive a deck of playing cards and a commemorative tote. Best of all, you’ll meet the show’s cast for a souvenir photograph.

The Staggering Puppetry

Another sight to see in Awakening is Curry’s large-scale puppets and animated figures. So keep your eyes peeled for puppet-like characters interwoven into the story. Standouts include a whale used in the Water realm scene and the phoenix rising from the ashes in the Fire world.

These standouts blend in, creating a well-crafted illusion to keep audiences guessing. Also, watch out for ingenious props that appear and disappear at pivotal moments. Yup, the 75-minute production goes beyond imaginable.

The Sound and Music

Aside from dramatic choreographies, Awakening will feature an original score by Brian Tyler. Composer Tyler worked on over 100 films, including Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This time around, he created another masterpiece. Each song lucratively expresses the emotions and characters of the cast. The score features an innovative mixture of hip-hop, electronic, and dancehall genres. Best of all, it gave each actor an authentic moment which helped enrich the story’s unraveling.

To improve audio quality, Awakening employed the 3D sound system designed by Hylenski. As with the visual aspects of the performance, the sound will envelop the audience.

All the 1,6000 seats come with two mounter speakers. This way, the music moves forward and backward like a natural sound wave.

The Costumes

Awakening embodies the fun, colorful, and exuberant performance clothing Las Vegas is best known for. Designed by Soyon An, Awakening showcases more than 300 haute-couture-inspired costumes.

For instance, the stunning avant-garde black-and-white outfits during Darkness’ ball. Also imbued in the designs of the costumes are the intricate details of the background. For example, An created a whimsical aquatic adventure look using under-the-sea motifs such as tentacles to illustrate the Water realm.

If you enjoy Haute fashion or like all things lavish, Awakening is a must-watch!

Convenient Location

As a tourist, you’d want to avoid the heavy traffic or the inconveniences of commuting after a night out. However, when you spend a night watching Awakening, you won’t have to go far if you want to retire early. A few steps outside the 360 theater are many bedroom suites of your dreams.

Wynn’s rooms feature residential touches like rare artwork and canopy beds. It’s the perfect setting to end your Las Vegas awakening.
