Combat Zone Paintball is an outdoor paintball and gel blaster park at 13011 South Las Vegas Boulevard, at the far south end of the valley, well past the Strip. It works for mixed ages: real paintball for older kids and adults, and softer gel blasters for children as young as 5. How long you last is up to you, since 100 paintballs can go in 15 minutes or stretch past an hour.
What to expect
You sign the waiver, collect your rental marker, hopper, mask and air tank, and gather in the big shaded staging area, which gets a cooling mist in summer, between games. Games run on three fields, with formats such as capture the flag, attack and defend, king of the hill, protect the president and last man standing. The fields are lit for night play, so summer evenings run late.
Good to know
Pick the impact level by age: standard .68-caliber paintball from 10, lower-impact .50-caliber from 8, gel blasters from 5, and the bigger Surge XL gel blaster and the pump shotgun from 7.
Everyone signs a waiver, and the link is on the official site, so you can do it before you go.
Walk-ins are welcome for rentals, though there may be a wait. Outside food and drinks are allowed.
Open play is Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with later hours in summer. The park closes on Christmas, New Year’s, Easter, Mother’s Day and July 4th.
Private games for anywhere from 2 to more than 1,000 players run outside open-play hours.
